Why do we need to impress others?

All we do is for other's impression to us, right?

as I said in my past post-http://brainloops.blogspot.com/2007/11/to-impress-is-as-much-important-as.html it is very important to a person even if he neglects the fact that he cares about what people think.

We as people have our focus divided, 30% for ourselves and 70% for others.

Why?

heres my theory, would we survive if we just focus on ourselves? would we survive by ourselves only?

As the saying says, "no man is an island", to become part of the society we should be accepted by the society. To be accepted we need to impress them or even just show them we are worth it.

We need friends too, that's why we try our best to fit in. Isn't that an effort on making others' impression to you good?

Impression of other people to us is like our transparent identity. We cannot change what they see of us except if we can talk to them, of course.

But by doing so, it is an effort again to fit in the standards of that certain person.

Lets say we really didn't care about what people think, do you think you'll have that much of friends? do you think you'll study? do you think you'll buy expensive or fashionable clothes? do you think we are going to be this good-looking?

Others really matter to our everyday lives, even though we don't know all of them we are still affected of how they see us.
